40 Days of Increase | Day 10
If you would like to begin at Day 1 you can find that post here.
—by Pastor Don Weeks, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church
My friend Bruce Musselman taught me how to share Christ with my coworkers in a natural and non-threatening way.
It was not a method, or a system. One need not attend a day-long, soul-winning seminar or memorize a list of Bible verses to do it. The fact is, Bruce Musselman, who happened to be my Bible professor at Heritage Baptist Institute, wasn’t giving a lecture on how to lead souls to Christ. He simply told us this:
”When someone asks you how you’re doing, simply say, ’I’m doing great. Jesus saved me, and He’s been so good to me.”
People at school and work ask us how we are doing all the time. So do total strangers. God HImself knows this, and so do you and I, if we think about it. God gives us untold opportunities to witness for Christ. If we truly want Christ to increase in the lives of others, we are going to have to do something about it. We may not like to hear this, but we are 100% responsible. Yes, of course, it is God who does the saving. Yes, it is the Holy Spirit that does the real soul-winning. But still it is on us to open our mouth, and it is on us to move our feet.
Romans 10:14-15 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Your daily Practical Tasks:
- Pray with courage. Ask God to put someone in your path to whom you can be a witness.
- Write out your memory verse. Can you recite it from memory yet?
- Bring your notebook with you to church, and don’t forget to bring your Bible! Listen to all God is trying to teach you. Listen to the Holy Spirit for those things—or maybe even that one thing—the He wants you to do. Action is the key. Without it, we wouldn’t have a book in the Bible called Acts, nor would we even have a Bible. Sometime, Someone, somewhere has to do something for Christ! That someone is you, and that somewhere is here, and guess when the time is…that’s right, NOW!
- Try this today. It’s good practice for tomorrow when you are at school or work. When someone asks you how you are doing, have your answer ready. Make sure Christ is in your response. I guarantee you, you are doing good because God is good. Why not be a witness and let everyone know.
See you at church.
