His bloody cross. The nails through His hands. The crown of thorns. The bruised body. His torn out beard and His bludgeoned face. His bleeding side. His bare and shredded back from scourging. His pierced feet. His agony in the garden and the naked shame of humiliation.
He did it all so that we could pray in His name. He made a way for our prayers to make it too the Father, because He is the Way. He is our mediator. He is our intercessor. He is our access to God. He is our everything.
He came alive again from the dead to hear our prayers and pass them straight on to the Father.
How incredibly sad it is if we do not pray. Here are three Bible verses to convince us, convict us, and remind us what a blessed connection we have directly to the Father through Christ.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Whether in crisis or in times of tranquility we are able pray to God in Jesus’ name. When we do not know what to pray for, or even how to pray, the Holy Spirit stands ready to help us. Think about it, if God has provided all these resources—and has provided His Son and His Spirit—to keep the lines of communication open, He must truly want to hear from us.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
For your own sake, for the benefit of others, and for the glory of God, pray.
Pray to God in the power of the Holy Spirit and pray in Jesus’ name. Remember, Christ increases the moment you pray in His name. Not only that, but just think how Christ is increased from the blessed course of events that God Himself causes to unfold in heaven and on earth because you dared to whisper a simple prayer.
Your daily Practical Tasks:
- Write out your memory verse on a new page in your notebook, Colossians 3:17.
- Thank Jesus for all He went through that you might be able to talk to God.
- Renew your resolve to keep your lines of communication open to God.
- Write out a simple prayer to God, in Jesus name, as the Holy Spirit leads you.
- Lastly, and this requires some thought, write down what you think are your three top hindrances to prayer. Then, ask God to reveal strategies to specifically overcome those top three hindrances. As always, we all would love to hear (and learn from) your thoughts which you can share in the comments section.
Thanks for listening and reading. Thanks for your faithfulness to Christ. Thanks for wanting Him to increase. We need more of Him everywhere, amen? So, thank you!
Have an awesome and inspired day in Christ!
HE MUST INCREASE
