Congratulations! You’ve just complete your six-day warm-up!
Whether you realize it or not, Christ has increased in your life, and in the lives of others around you for the past six days. And we’re just getting warmed-up. You say, “But Don, I’ve got to be honest, all I have really done is read or listened to the devotion. I’ve had great intentions to do some of the stuff you’ve talked about, but I haven’t even started the notebook thing.”
Look, even if all you have done is thought about doing something for Christ, that’s okay. That’s still a positive thing. In fact, that’s fantastic. Just like with God, it is never too late to do better. It’s never too late to follow Christ. As long as you and I have breath, we can cause an increase of Christ.
Okay. You are warmed-up. And now…
THE SEVEN DAY SPRINT!
By the way, this is your practical task (PT) for the day.
Take your notebook. Write Day 7 on a new page for today. On the next page write Day 8 and so on until you get to Day 13. This will bring us to March 1st, can you believe it? Write the memory verse of the month, Colossians 3:17, every day for the next seven days. You and I will become a disciple of this one Bible verse for the next seven days. Of course you may pick your own verse or even use a verse you already have memorized. But don’t cheat yourself. This is a great opportunity to make Christ increase in your life by making His Word part of you. You do this by memorizing His Word, meditating on His Word, and then living His Word. Remember, we are His disciples.
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
For the seven-day sprint we will take our memory verse and apply it to specific areas of our lives. Here are the seven areas of life we will consider; one area of life for each day of the 7 day sprint.
- How Christ may increase in your home.
- How Christ may increase in your relationships.
- How Christ may increase in your prayer life.
- How Christ may increase at work or at school.
- How Christ may increase in your finances.
- How Christ may increase in your health.
- And how Christ may increase in your success at sharing your faith.
Since this is the first day of our 7 day sprint, we will consider home life today. In your notebook under your memory verse, consider this question:
What can I do in my home, “in word or deed” to cause Christ to increase in my home?
This will take some serious thought and earnest prayer. Do not forget, prayer is part of your practical task every single day. Let me know what you come up with by writing your ideas in the comments section.
PS: Yesterday I prayed that God would put someone in my path to whom I could share the Gospel, and He did. This is a major miracle. Because of the love and concern of other Christians working and praying, God orchestrated everything in a way I could have never expected. I simply did yesterday’s practical task, and God allowed me the privilege to share Christ.
Warning: Be careful—or should I say be prepared—God answers earnest prayers and when He does be ready to do the work that is required. In other words, if you ask God to place someone in your life to whom you can minister, you better be prepared to minister! Amen?
Have an inspired day in Christ.
HE MUST INCREASE
