40 Days of Increase | Day 32
–by Pastor Don Weeks, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church
Have you been keeping a notebook during this 40 Days of Increase campaign? If so, I can guarantee you that Christ has increased. Just to write down the name Jesus where you have never written it before is increase. If you have written prayers to Him, and written praise to Him when neit her the prayers or praise to Christ would have existed, He has increased. The same goes with any practical task we have done thus far during this campaign.
We have prayed for others, and prayed for ourselves. (By the way thank you for your prayers yesterday. I believe God heard your prayers. I believe Christ was increased in preeminence at Antioch yesterday. Again, thank you for praying.) We have prayed for the lost and asked God for divine appointments where we could witness for Him. This is all awesome stuff! Christ must increase, and He has. And, where Christ has increased, we have had to decrease in order to put His will above our own.
Ironically, Jesus the Son lived this principle with God His Father. When He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane,
Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Jesus put the will of the Father first when He died for us on the cross. In effect He allowed the will of the Father to increase, and Jesus not only decreased, He deceased. He did this as an example for us. We must decrease to the point where we, too, die to sin.
Romans 6:10-13 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Cashing in on all your hard work.
Have you have written Colossians 3:16-17 in your notebook? Have you tried to hide it in your heart? If so, you have had to die to self to memorize Scripture. It is hard work, both mentally and spiritually. But, if you have been even slightly consistent with it (like me) you will be able to recall this verse from memory. If you haven’t worked on the memory verse at all, and try to recall it – sorry but all the prayer in the world is not going to help. You will be like the Christian teen that prays for an “A” on a test for which they haven’t studied.
For the remaining 8 days of this 40 day challenge simply recite this portion of Scripture from memory. There are 6 days to the revival at Antioch but the 40 Days of Increase challenge goes to the end of the revival. Why? Because we want Christ to increase during the revival! We need all you who participated in this campaign to keep praying throughout the revival.
Now, the memory verses. Live out this part of Scripture today. If you cannot yet say it from memory, keep writing it out and then read it out loud five times morning, noon and before going to sleep. Your heart will absorb it. Your mind can do it!
Colossians 3:16-17 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Wow. Those are instructions from God designed to cause Christ to increase. Dear God, let us live out those words from You today!
Have a God-glorifying, Christ-increasing day, today.
HE MUST INCREASE
