Friday Night, November 10-

Everyone has arrived at Canaan safe and sound. Its going to be a balmy 7 degrees tonight!!!

We had a dinner of spaghetti, salad, and bread, and teens have had a good evening of just hanging out, playing a game of Rook, or watching the WVU basketball game.

Pastor Jacob led our first session and handed out our booklets and did an introduction on the book of Jonah.

Overall it’s been a great first day of the retreat! Thanks for your prayers and we will see you tomorrow.

Saturday, November 11-

It was a solid second day. We started off early today with pancakes and bacon, followed by our second session where every student read through the entire book of Jonah in one sitting (the first time for all but three of the students)!

Soon after, we left for Dolly Sods and Bear Rocks. Students crawled and climbed over the rocks and enjoyed the spectacular views. Some brave souls even volunteered for a 5 mile hike back to camp! The rest of us returned for pizza breads and taco soup before taking off for Blackwater Falls State Park. There we viewed the falls and made a brief trip out to the breathtaking Lindy Point.

That evening the Teens loaded up to visit some local restaurants in nearby Davis with leaders. Once back, Clay Thacker spoke on the “so what” of Jonah and we finished with some discussion on how we’re just like Jonah. After an epic battle of charades, we called it a night. Please continue to pray as we now prepare to make the trip back. It’s been a great weekend!
