Tulip bulbs sit dormant all winter long. No one can see their beautiful colors and there is absolutely nothing to see during most of the year. It’s all hidden under the ground. All creation waits for God’s timing. The tulip waits patiently for the season of increase, the season of spring.
We know that Christ must increase in every area of our lives. We who really desire Him to increase must remember that we cannot force Christ to increase on our schedule. We cannot force the season of increase. Like the gardener, we must do all we can to promote increase. As incredible as it seems, we are in this together with God. We must work with Him, on His time schedule if Christ is to increase in our lives. Remember the words of the Apostle Paul when he said (under inspiration of the Holy Spirit),
1 Corinthians 3:9a “For we are labourers together with God…”
If you want tulips to bloom in the spring, you’ve got to plant the bulbs in the fall. Somebody, somewhere, somehow has to put in the hard work. It’s the heavenly pattern:
- A season of hard work (suffering)
- A season of waiting (patience)
- A season of increase (joy)
- A season of harvest (rejoicing)
We are laborers together with God. He wants Christ to increase in our lives more than we do. Let’s put in the work of prayer and right living. Let’s do it with patience. God will reward us with a season of increase, and a season of joy. Keep on keeping on for Christ.
Here’s one last reminder from God to keep you going strong today:
1 Corinthians 3:6-7 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
HE MUST INCREASE!
