The Challenge: 40 Days of Increase: Day 1

Do you feel as though you’re drifting through 2017? The experts say that most people lose interest in the goals they have set for the new year by Valentine’s Day. We’ll that was a few days ago, and whether you have goals for the 2017 or not, we’d like to offer you a challenge for the next 40 days, and that challenge is for you to allow Christ to increase in all areas of your life.

Our theme verse at Antioch this year is,

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

We’ve entitled the challenge, 40 Days of Increase, and it will culminate on the final day of our Spring Revival at Antioch. We will challenge you each day with a practical task to accomplish. The ultimate goal will be for Christ to really and truly increase in specific areas of our lives. We will consider the following areas of life and give you practical tasks to complete during the day. The areas of life we will consider during the next 40 days will be:

How Christ may increase in your home life.
How Christ may increase in your family life.
How Christ may increase in your prayer life.
How Christ may increase at work or at school.
How Christ may increase in your finances.
How Christ may increase in your health.
And how Christ may increase in your success at sharing your faith.

Yes, we will be talking about how to share our faith during the 40 days, but not right away.

You may have some of these areas of your life nailed down. You may be way past what we propose for the daily challenge. That’s fine. But perhaps you will find some new ideas and insights that will help you do a better job living for Jesus. And isn’t that’s what life’s all about?

1 Corinthians 10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Whether or not you are a member of Antioch, we’d love to hear from you during this 40 day challenge. We invite you to leave your comments below. We’d like to hear of your victories and challenges and especially how these daily challenges allowed Christ to increase in your life.

Are you ready to take the challenge? Will you commit to actively seeking Christ to increase in your life for the next 40 days? Consider this awesome promise from the Word of God:

Proverbs 16:3  Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

If you are ready to take the challenge, your first practical task begins now! The task is prayer. Pray and commit to God that you are going to allow Him to increase in your life. You are not promising to do every task everyday, you are simply asking Christ to increase in your life. There may be some practical tasks during this challenge that you simply cannot do for one reason or another. Things come up, life happens. That’s why the first practical task is prayer. God knows what we are capable of and he understands better than us how life works. The task is simply to pray and ask God to help you in the next 40 days to allow Christ to increase in all areas of your life.

We are going to ask that if you do not have a habit of prayer, that for the next 40 days you establish one. Prayer will be part of our daily task everyday. If you need help on when or where or how to pray, just remember to keep it simple. Prayer is simply talking to God in Jesus name. Pray at a time when you will not be rushed. Maybe you can pray during your lunch break, or before you go to bed. It doesn’t have to be for a long time.  Watch out though, you might really enjoy it! People have found that once they commit to the habit of prayer, they find a peace there with Christ that passes all understanding. And guess what? Christ will have increased in your life simply by you spending time with Him in prayer. How blessedly awesome is that?

Day one will be complete when you pray and ask God to use you and grow you for next 40 days. This concludes your practical task for the day.

Congratulations! You are on your way to Christ increasing in your life.
